Profile
Carole's
Garden Clematis Nursery was started as Carole's Garden in 1992 and began
operating from a 3/4 acre retail nursery property in the foothills of
Melbourne's Dandenong Ranges.
Clematis have been grown by the nursery since 1993, and Carole has gained
extensive knowledge of the plants and their requirements during this time.
Our hybrid clematis plants are all propagated from cuttings at the
nursery and most are tried and timeless varieties.
The clematis are grown outdoors, so are hardy to the colder winter
conditions, and summer sun. In October each year Carole's Garden Clematis Nursery holds an open weekend, when the clematis are on display to the public. Plants both in the ground and in pots are displayed in full flower, and clematis are available for sale. Clematis are planted along with climbing roses on a series of archways, allowing plants to perform in garden situations. In October 2000 Jane Edmanson and the ABC filmed a segment for Gardening Australia, featuring the newly planted clematis archways. Each year will see the plants increase in size, and produce more flowers for the display. New varieties are also being added to the collection. Retail sales from the nursery are by appointment only please. We can usually accommodate you, but please check by phone first. Buses and tour groups welcome by arrangement. The
Nursery, located on Melbourne's beautiful Mornington Peninsula, is close to
surf and bay beaches, wineries, restaurants and beautiful scenery. It is on the
north side of Bungower Road, Somerville, between Lower Somerville Road and the
Frankston Flinders Road. Travelling from Melbourne, take the Monash Freeway out of the city, then exit to Hastings along M420 at the start of the new Hallam Bypass. Follow the signs for Hastings at the end of the South Gippsland freeway, and then continue along the Westernport Highway (Dandenong/Hastings Road) towards Hastings. Turn right into Bungower Road, at the large roundabout about 5km north of Hastings. (Next turning to the right after Eramosa Rd). Carole's Garden Clematis Nursery is situated between Lower Somerville Rd. and the Frankston/Flinders Rd. Melway
